In this episode, I share stories about things that have grossed me out–a cow lung, pinning insects, and dissecting pigs. I also discuss how HSPs might get “grossed out” more than people without the trait–touching on the vasovagel response.Mentioned on the show:

This episode really spoke to me. I am the only one of my friend group who can’t watch doctor shows or horror movies because of the blood and guts. Luckily, my friends understand. Thanks for making this episode!
When I was younger, I would pass out at church when I’d hear sermons preached about Jesus’s blood. Although I personally have a high level of pain tolerance, I become ill when seeing or hearing about someone else’s physical elements.
In third grade (many moons ago), my teacher tried to scare our class out of smoking by describing her husband’s lung cancer. I put my head down on the desk and the next thing I knew, I was on the floor. I actually had a full blown seizure – not sure if this would be related to the vagus nerve response or not. Doctors put me through a variety of test of never found additional seizure activity and I haven’t had one since…although I do still get sick & faint when grossed out. Not a fun experience!
Yes. I have this response to strong smells and unpleasant visual experiences.
