3 Tips: How to Handle Criticism as a Highly Sensitive Person

Just before my book was published on Amazon last year, my husband very carefully said to me, “You know that you’re going to get some bad reviews, right? I mean, no matter what, every book gets some bad reviews. I just want you to be ready for that.”

I couldn’t help but laugh because I could see he was trying to be gentle about it. That was sweet. “Of course I know I’ll get bad reviews! It’s fine.” I assured him.

Criticism and insults cut so deep

Being overly sensitive to criticism is a huge topic, and one that comes up all the time, especially when people first learn about high sensitivity.

I always put off writing about it because it was so vast. But now I have a story.

Today my husband and I were bantering about something, just joking around. But then he went too far and said something hurtful. I don’t even know if he realizes how deeply it hurt me.
